Karyl is a Registered Psychotherapist who who has worked with CaRib Counselling & Psychotherapy for the past 3 years. (Currently accepting new clients)
I have worked for over ten years in the social services sector, working with youth and their families in community settings, and providing individual adult therapy in private practice. These experiences have strengthened my capacity to work with clients of varying identities, abilities, and histories in ways that are open and receptive to exploring the impacts of these additional layers on everyday stresses. I am knowledgeable working with challenges related to anxiety, mood, loss, sexual and gender diversity, interpersonal relationships, race-based stressors, and settlement/life transitions.
My focus is always to provide a comfortable, confidential space for us to work through some events that still negatively impact your life, help bring clarity to that uneasy sense that just won’t leave you and celebrate your successes. I want to work with you towards building a life consistent with your own values; in search of your peace and joy. My approach is culturally sensitive, and client centred. I blend my anti-oppressive lens with my humanistic, experiential learnings in a manner that welcomes the fullness of your being with all the layered nuances. As a result, I have developed the flexibility to use an integrative approach, customizing my offerings of emotion focused, solution focused, cognitive behavioural, and dialectical behavioural interventions to continually attend to your needs at different moments throughout the session.
It would be my pleasure to support you on this journey as you become more aware about yourself, figure out some options and start taking steps towards change. I am ready to listen to your story.
